Free Tax Help at the Mahogany Neighbourhood Centre
Free tax help is provided two days a week at the Mahogany Neighbourhood Centre (MNC) up to Friday 30 October 2009.
This help is provided by a qualified Australian Taxation Office (ATO) trained volunteer, who is able to help you fill in your tax return and lodge it electronically online, and provide you with a printed copy for your records.
Bookings can be made by calling 9786 1445 (MNC).
Tax help is provided on Tuesdays and Fridays, 10am-3pm, six sessions per day. Dates for August are already booked.
Tax Help Guidelines

Income must be under $40,000 - Plus $250 for each child

Cannot have sold shares

Not earned income using an ABN

Not received income from rent
You Must Bring:
- Payment summaries (aka 'Group Certificates'), including any from Centrelink
- Interest details and amounts
- Any share dividend details
- Last year's tax assessment notice from the ATO if possible (or one less than five (5) years old)
Education Rebate
This is claimable by anyone, with school-age children, who receives Family Tax Benefits Part A, whether working or not.
